1943  Kennedy commanded PT 109 when it was sunk by a Japanese Destroyer. Earned Navy and Marine Corps Medal for acts of bravery that helps saved the lives of several crew members.

1946-1952  Served as a Congressman representing a district in Massachusetts

1952  Won an election for Senator from Massachussetts

1953-1960 Serves as Senator

1953  Married Jacqueline Lee Bouvier

1956  Publishes Profiles in Courage

1957  Wins Pulitzer Prize for Biography

1960  Wins Presidential Election

1961-1963 Serves as 35th President of the United States

1961  January 20th at his inaugural address he says, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."

1961  Peace Corp is established

1961  Announces goal of putting a man on the moon.

1961  Bay of Pigs Invasion in Cuba fails

1961  16,000 military personnel are sent to Vietnam

1962  Kennedy sends 400 Federal Marshalls to the University of Mississippi to ensure that James Meredith could enroll.

1962  Cuban Missile Crisis

1963  Gives a speech in West Berlin, Germany. Says, "Ich bin ein Berliner."

1963  In a televised speech Kennedy proposes what would become the Civil Rights Act of 1964

1963  Assassinated  on November 22nd in Dallas, Texas. Lee Harvey Oswald was charged with the crime. He was shot two days later by Jack Ruby. The Warren Commission concluded that Oswald was the lone assassin. The House Select Committee on Assassinations concluded that Oswald was the assassin allowing for the probability of conspiracy based on disputed acoustic evidence.
